A few days ago, in a therapy group of girls who suffer from an eating disorder and, after being discharged from our unit to get worse again, we were talking about what could explain its recurrence. During admission were intended to standardize the food, but these targets were unable to maintain their high. When you relate the experiences that led them to get worse, nearly all had one common denominator ‘of the importance they attached to the opinion of others. In fact, are not fulfilled the expectations of the people who surrounded justified in many cases, their despair and unable to maintain their goals.

We do not stop to think why it was so important to outside opinion, but the case was that they were deeply convinced that their own ideas ever worth. Furthermore, only set in the results and not on their intentions. We felt that, seen from outside, how it was behaving like the programs of “Practical Jokes.” It makes the victim believe a lie P. ej. “accept me if I’m thin” or “I will be happy only if others appreciate me”, and then we had fun watching how they change their behavior according to this invention.
